The One
by Cheryl Robinson
A fateful encounter with a savvy young producer lands aspiring writer Olena Day the role of America’s bachelorette on the new reality show The One. There are just two problems: Olena despises reality TV, and technically she’s not single. What could she possibly hope to gain? A book deal? But Olena’s made it clear; she won’t resort to the stereotypical antics often portrayed by women on reality TV. But ratings rule and the producers have plans of their own to assure the show’s success even if it means exposing some of Olena’s long-held and most embarrassing secrets.
Jason Nix is a former NFL superstar turned TV sports commentator. He’s been dating Olena off and on for almost a year. Financially, he’s set for life, but he isn’t happy. When Olena’s preoccupation with reality show stardom puts their relationship on the rocks, he meets a young woman from Dallas who captivates him in ways no other woman has. There’s something about the makeup-free, Bible-toting Texan that Jason can’t seem to get enough of, and soon makes him wonder whether she’s too good to be true, or if the real problem is she’s not Olena.
Step behind the scenes of the highly competitive and unique world of reality dating shows, in this relationship-driven page-turner that keeps delivering surprises.

I would love to read about a woman who isn’t playing games on a reality show. Most of the ones on TV today are so fake. This story sounds really great.

Thank you so much for hosting my tour today. I just wanted to add that while my book is a sequel to In Love with a Younger Man it is also a standalone and doesn’t require that you read the first book.

I have not watched ANY of those dating shows. Dating is hard enough without the world watching. Getting to know someone is such a personal, intimate experience. It should not be played out on TV. It is NOT an environment in which true love can blossom!

I’m probably the only person in America that hasn’t watched a dating reality show. I do love other reality shows like American Idol and DWTS.
Thanks for introducing this new author to me!

I usually don’t watch these types of shows. Not sure I would even want to.

I haven’t watched any for a few seasons–of course, missing two years is missing ten cycles in these strange TV numbers. But I used to enjoy watching them. Train wreck style.
But I have a feeling your book will be much more exciting than faux dating reality! Plus, I’m a Dallas girl.

Since I’ve been married 42 years I have to really think a long way back to even remember what “dating” was! The closest I’ve come is seeing about 5 minutes of The Bachelor which was about as exciting as watching paint dry. If I watch a reality show I either want to be entertained (something like The Voice or American Idol) or I want to laugh a lot (think Storage Wars or American Pickers if your down in the dumps and you want to have a good laught).
On the other hand The One sounds like a fun book to curl up with and the characters sound like they have “more of a life” than any of the participants of the commercials I HAVE watched for all the shows that I WON”T watch!

I have to say that I have not watched any dating reality shows. I can’t say that I ever would either as I have no interest in dating as I have been married for 30+ years…lol. The only reality show I watch is American Idol. The One does sound like an interesting book though. Thanks for the giveaway!!

I don’t usually watch those shows, they just seem too phoney to me. How can you actually know someone well enough in a few weeks to make a lifelong decision such as marriage?

I have never watched any of the dating reality shows on TV as most of them seem fake and preset as to what is going to happen. The One does sound like a great read. Thanks for the giveaway!!!

I don’t really watch them, but I did catch a few episodes of Flava Flav’s love-seeking show and Love in the Wild, and how superficial and materialistic these contestants are make me wince.
And of course the producers definitely go and add drama into the whole thing lest it become a gigantic bore.

I like watching reality tv dating shows, but often wonder how many truly do fall in love. It seems to me that the people get caught up in the fact that they want to fall in love than truly being in love. It seems that a lot of them want to be there for the fame and attention they may attract. I do however love it when a good match is found and I love to see a lasting relationship being made.

Sorry but I so do NOT like reality dating shows…no one can find true love on tv! True love takes time…years…to grow into the real thing.
Your book does sound like a wonderful read! I’ve heard great things about it!

I remember watching one of the bachelor shows but it was so long ago. The show was entertaining enough, I just have a hard time believing they are real.
Good luck on your book, it sounds really great

Reality dating shows have to be rigged I reckon. I have not watched one in a very long time. I actually don’t watch much television at all anymore.

I don’t really care much for most “reality tv”. I don’t think there’s really very much that’s real about it. The book sounds like a great read though!

Reality shows are not like reality at all, so… I can’t watch them. I just can’t. Everything is just so obviously planned and controlled,

The couples on dating shows generally don’t work out. 2% might make it, if they really, really want to work at it, but it’s generally all for ratings. Especially the tearjerker scenes.
