Welcome, Carrie! Let’s start with the basics, when did you first start reading romance?

Author Carrie Ann Ryan
First, thanks for having me! And I started reading romance about 3 years ago I think…I have always read some. But I had found myself skimming certain parts just to get to the relationships. And NO not the *ahem* scenes, but everything. LOL
Could you please recommend a few books to put on our MUST READ lists?
Oh no! LOL. I don’t think I can do that. But I will try…
• Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Love this series, but this hero makes my heart wrench
• Coming Undone by Lauren Dane. Brody Brown is a hero to end all heroes.
• Alpha & Omega by Patricia Briggs. I want Charles LOL
I’ve read about 5,000 more…so if you ever need a rec, let me know!
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? And what’s about this person’s writing makes that it special?
Well, my crit partner, Lia Davis, is my inspiration and my drive. Without her and her work, I’d be pretty lost right now.
What do you like the most about paranormal romance? Are there any other romance sub- genres you want to tackle?
I love building my own world and special abilities. It’s so much fun to let your mind go in a different direction and break the mold. I’m writing a contemporary at the moment and I may tackle a western at some point. *grins*
If you could be any paranormal creature, which one would you be and why?
Hmm…it’s always the same thing for me LOL. A tossup between a wolf and an angel. I’ve always loved wolves and I’ve always wanted to fly. But no, Lia and I won’t write an angelic wolf book LOL. Too funny for words.
Congrats on your new release yesterday! What do you think is unique about Kade and Mel’s story - A Night Away (Redwood Pack Book 3.5)?
Thank you soooo much!!! Well, this is a book set after the HEA. You see, Kade and Mel already had their ending. We already know they’re together, in love, and have a baby. But I wanted to go back and see what was going on with them and how much they really need each other. PLUS this was the first time I wrote from Maddox’s POV. He’s my favorite, but shhh… don’t tell them that!
What can you tell us about the Dust of My Wing (Dante’s Circle Book 1) world-building?
Well, I’m still working on it! LOL. Dust of My Wings will be out in July and is a brand new world. Instead of just wolves, witches, and demons, I have just about every paranormal creature out there. It’s a bit more difficult, but sooo much fun!
Now here’s the tradition Reading Romances question: what makes a romance novel a great love story and how would you define “romance”?
I love happy endings and falling in love. Romance is to me when the hero and heroine need each other more than they thought they did and fall in love. It doesn’t matter what happens around them as long as they have each other and can work together.
Thank you so much for having me!

A Night Away by Carrie Ann Ryan
(Redwood Pack, #3.5)
Kade Jamenson has been mated to Melanie for almost two years. They’ve been through mating circles, battles, loss, misunderstandings, and finally, the birth of their son, Finn. The world is in turmoil around them as the Redwoods engage in war with the Centrals. But for Kade and Melanie, the turmoil is also happening at home. The responsibility of a restless baby and their Pack has taken a toll and they need a break.
Not from each other. But from their Pack. Just for a night.
Kade takes Mel away for a romantic getaway and leaves Uncle Maddox alone with baby Finn. The Omega of the Redwood Pack may be adept at emotions but the idea of a baby may be beyond his immense capabilities.
Author’s Note: This is a novella set between books 3 and 4 to give you a taste of Mel and Kade. It is best that you have already immersed yourselves in the Redwood Pack world, however even new readers will enjoy a glimpse of one of the Redwood’s favorite couples.
***

Mel looked into Kade’s green eyes and focused. She needed time with this man. Just the fact that she’d thought for a moment he’d leave her meant she did. And Kade cemented the fact that she was scared. Yes, she could admit that at least to herself. She was scared to death. She was floundering as a mother, as a mate, and a Pack leader. She needed a moment to escape. To sit back and remember why she loved doing all these things. To remember that she loved her mate and needed him more than the air she breathed.
She placed her palm on his face, his unshaved cheek scraping against her skin and she shivered at the thought of where else his five-o’-clock shadow could scrape her. His tanned skin looked like caramel against her pallor. She wanted to see where else they’d contrast when they lay naked in a sweaty pile.
She needed a break. If only for a night.
“Okay,” she finally whispered. “That sounds wonderful.”
Maddox released a sigh, and Kade smiled. “Good.”
“Where are we going?”
“It’s a surprise.” Kade gave a smoldering look and Mel melted into a puddle.

A Night Away sounds like an interesting read. I’m hoping Carrie Ann can tell us how many more books she’s planning in the Redwood Pack series. I also like the sound of her upcoming series Dante’s Circle – I’ve always thought the more interesting books have a variety of paranormal creatures/characters. Thanks for the giveaway!

Carrie Ann Ryan writes amazingly and each story is better than the one before. I have read all her books and is part way through Mel & Kades novella… It is so realistic that if you are a mom, you go been there and done that, so it is easy to relate to…. AND who doesn’t love Mel & Kade!
Hugs Carrie!

I really like the idea of going back to re-visit a couple after their HEA. Seeing how they have grown in love and life and how they face new challenges.
I admit I have a fondness for angels too so I can’t wait for Dust of my Wings!
