Hi Nat! Thanks for having me stop by to talk about romance.
The fact is writing romance is really hard. The realities of romance in everyday life are just not the same as what’s in the romance novel. In my novels I try to focus on what the characters are feeling,
on the actions of the characters to show how they feel.
Luke is completely focused on Ashlee’s seduction. From the first moment they meet, he can’t get her out of his mind. The feelings of a budding romance are new to Ashlee, but protecting her virginity is vital to her survival.
Soul Seduction is full of action, from the fight scenes to the erotic love scenes. Luke actively pursues Ashlee throughout the whole book, even though she resists the need deep within her. Her life depends on not falling to Luke’s tempting charm and Luke is determined to have her, at any cost.
If Ashlee was human, she would have given in a long time ago to Luke’s seduction, especially when she dreams about him every night. But when her dreams turn dark, Luke may be the only person who can save her from the terrifying dreams, and herself.
Thanks Nat! Take care and I hope you all enjoy Soul Seduction.

Soul Seduction
by Lori Toland
November 29th 2011 by Loose Id
Ashlee Bennett has her priorities straight. Fighting demons is at the top of the list until she meets her sexy neighbor, Luke Byrne. Even though he is human, she can’t stop dreaming about his buff body and sexy grin…until her dreams turn to nightmares.
Her world is turned upside down when Luke follows her one night, but instead of being afraid, he is only more determined to stand beside her and fight. Ashlee knows she needs to keep her distance from Luke, not just to protect her virginity but her heart as well. But Luke may be the only one who can save her from the night, and her dreams.
Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual situations, graphic language, and material that some readers may find objectionable: violence.

Two of my favorite story themes are enemies to lovers and friends to lovers. Have you written books using these tropes? If so, which do you think is the hardest to write? If not, do you plan to?

Hi Karen!
you always ask great questions.
I have written Friends to Lovers, in Trust In Me, a m/m contemporary. There are some sexy scenes in there! I found this easy to write because their chemistry flowed so well.
Enemies to lovers, not yet but I do want to. Tension would off the charts in that book!

I think about how authors do what they do all of the time I read a book! I’ve tried myself to write and it just has not come together in a realistic way *sigh
I give A LOT of credit to authors out there. It’s a great accomplishment to have a complete work out they for readers to enjoy.
Your works sound great!

You know the old adage is true: don’t try this at home! LOL. At first it seemed like nothing gelled. I started writing in 1997 and had an agent in 2000. I kept writing and in 2009 my first book was published. Just keep writing. Don’t stop! Enjoy the story.

Lori,
You mention that this book is full of fight scenes and erotic love scenes. Which do you enjoy writing more, the fight scenes, or the love scenes?
Lori
February 28, 2012 at 1:03 AM (UTC -3) Link to this comment
That’s hard to decide!
I really love writing the erotic love scenes. The harder the better
The hardest part of this book was keeping Ashlee a virgin. She wanted Luke right away.
But the fight scenes are fun. Overwriting the scenes can happen so I tend to read and re-read my fight scenes to make sure I don’t overdo it.

Hi Maritza!
This is my first published paranormal. The hardest part of writing Paranormal is the world building. There are so many different avenues I had to look down and make sure little hints were left in the book as to who Luke really is.

Hi Sara
OMG, me too. Especially with a body like Luke’s? Guh. He’s lickable. They drove me nuts! Their chemistry was so hot and I wanted them to get naughty.
I often tore my hair out while writing this book because they wouldn’t stop wanting to jump each other’s bones. I don’t know who was more frustrated, them or me!

Hi Evan!
Thank you so much for the compliment
I’m glowing now.
Honestly what gets me into a hero is his sex appeal. I’m not talking abs or a nice gorgeous ass (but those help!
) Sex appeal to the heroine (or hero, because I also write gay romance) is what’s important.
And as far as my favorite reading, anything that doesn’t have zombies
*shudder* I hate zombies. I literally read it all.

Ashlee is a demon slayer, born and trained to fight demons. And yes, this book is part of series that follows Ashlee after she moves to England.
Luke is human, but he’s not all that he seems.

Hi Criss
I don’t get writer’s block. However, I do sometimes find it hard to write for two reasons. One, I’m exhausted and I need to go to bed. Two, my plot jumped the tracks somewhere back on the plot and I just need to get it back on track.

Hi Elizabeth, I’ve been a huge fan of the PNR genre since I read The Vampire Diaries when it first came out. I was thirteen and boy, that just hit me straight in the heart, so much that when I met my husband, I said, “Oh boy, I love your name. It’s a derivative of my favorite book character.” He knew I was a bookworm like him from that moment and we’ve been inseparable since!

Agreed, writing romance is hard, but where do you get your inspiration? Is it movies, other books, exaggeration of real life events, or music?
Lori
April 13, 2012 at 6:26 PM (UTC -3) Link to this comment
Inspiration comes in so many different forms. Often times there’s something that happens that triggers a story, Like in my next short story due out from Dreamspinner Press, I had just received an e-mail from one minute in the future. Well, DSP was looking for time travel stories and I wrote one. It’s coming out this June.
So inspiration is everywhere!
